24/7 Dog Daycare Comes to the North Shore

Largest Full-Service Dog Care Facility in Lower Mainland Opens This Week

March 2, 2015– Wag Zone® Urban Dog Retreat, Ltd, an award-winning North Vancouver dog daycare, boarding, grooming and training facility, is proud to announce the grand opening of its new location at 345 Lynn Avenue – the Lower Mainland’s first 24/7 dog daycare and boarding center. The largest of its kind in Greater Vancouver, Wag Zone’s beautiful new 13,000 sq. ft. facility features a brand new 4,750 sq. ft. fenced-in yard of SynLawn® canine turf, a state-of-the-art veterinary-grade cleaning system, a luxurious dog lounge with fireplace and flat screen TV, and multiple playrooms, including “WeeWagz” – over 1,600 sq. ft. dedicated solely to dogs weighing less than 25 lbs. To celebrate the grand opening, Wag Zone will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, March 8 between 12:00pm – 4:00pm. This “humans only” event will feature food, information booths, giveaways, prizes and tours of the new facility.

Since opening in 2008, Wag Zone has grown substantially. By placing an emphasis on providing exceptional customer service to both their two- and four-legged clients, the company welcomed over 15,000 dogs through their doors in 2014. “We are all about peace of mind,” Robina Ritchie-Barker, CEO and ‘Pawsident’, notes. “Having a safe, positive, fun place for their dogs to play and stay and the freedom that comes with being able to drop off or pick up their dogs any time of the day or night really helps people balance their busy lives with doing the best for their pups”. To support this significant growth from their former, much smaller facility at 309 Mansfield Place, Wag Zone has increased staffing and implemented a rigorous training program that educates Wag Zone’s ‘Wagineers’ on dog behavior, body language, and personality traits, as well as the safe management and engagement of the variety of dogs in their care.

A true one-stop shop, in addition to daycare and boarding, Wag Zone offers expert full-service grooming, a range of dog training options from group classes to one-on-one in-home sessions, pet products, and food. Wag Zone is also known for offering free weekly “Puppy Hours” to the public where parents can bring their pups less than 5 months of age for an informative hour of play and fun. “Owners leave knowing a bit more about how to read their pup’s body language and how to recognize healthy play,” Robina notes, “This helps set their dog up for long-term success, which is a win for everyone”.
